Energy Affordability
Energy affordability is at the heart of a Just Transition because our communities can’t thrive in a clean energy future if they’re priced out of the basics they need to survive today. When families spend a disproportionate share of their income on heat, cooling, and electricity, they have fewer resources for their health, stability, and long term wellbeing.
A Just Transition means moving away from extractive systems that burden low income and BIPOC communities with high bills, unsafe housing, and chronic energy insecurity. It means building community-owned, efficient, and resilient energy solutions so families can stay safe during extreme weather, remain housed, and truly benefit from the clean energy transition.
The FAIR Energy Act
Passed in 2025, The FAIR Energy Act helps families avoid big increases in energy bills by limiting how often utilities can ask for bill increases and when they can raise customers’ rates.
Utility disconnection protections
Alongside partners, we advocate for utility disconnection moratoriums that prohibit shutoffs for low-income Oregonians during extreme heat, extreme cold, and wildfire smoke.
