Energy Justice

Across Oregon, families are struggling with high utility bills, rising prices, and extreme weather like ice storms and heat waves. The transition to clean energy has already started, but we need to make sure it’s fair for everyone.

When people have a real voice in decisions that directly impact their lives, our energy system can be more affordable and sustainable. Our goals are to lower bills, hold corporations accountable, and make energy programs easier for everyone to use.

Wins we led

  • Energy Affordability

Access to safe, reliable power is a basic human need, and no one should have to choose between keeping the lights on and putting food on the table. Energy affordability essential to staying healthy, housed, and resilient.

  • Building Resilience

Oregonians deserve healthy, affordable, resilient homes and buildings that run on clean energy. Adopting these solutions leads to better health, lower costs, less pollution, and safer communities.

  • Healthy Homes

Healthy Homes is an Oregon grant program that helps repair and improve low-income homes, keeping families safe and healthy while lowering medical costs and energy bills.

  • Oregon Clean Energy Campaign

Led by communities most impacted by high energy bills and pollution, OCEO’s main goals were to lower energy costs, make homes safer, and create good clean energy jobs.

Wins we supported

  • The Community Heat Pump Deployment Program provides financial assistance to homeowners towards the purchase and installation of heat pumps in owner-occupied residences in “economic development districts.”

  • The Rental Heat Pump Program allocates funds for rebates and grants that support heat pump installations in Oregon rental homes.

  • Emergency Heat Relief seeks to keep Oregonians safe from extreme heat by increasing renters’ access to cooling resources.

  • The Community Renewable Energy Program provides grants for planning and developing community renewable energy and energy resilience projects.
